Abu Dhabi Introduces Unified Economic License to Boost Business Start-Ups

In a groundbreaking move to streamline the business environment, Abu Dhabi has unveiled a Unified Economic License (UEL) aimed at simplifying the process of starting a business across the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This initiative, announced by the Department of Economic Development, is expected to significantly reduce administrative hurdles and foster entrepreneurial growth in the region.

The UEL consolidates various permits and approvals into a single, comprehensive license, allowing new businesses to operate across different sectors with greater ease.

Economic Development Chairman, Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, emphasized the UEL's role in supporting the UAE's economic diversification goals. "By streamlining the licensing process, we are removing barriers for entrepreneurs and investors, which will lead to increased economic activity and job creation," Al Shorafa stated.

Local and international business communities have welcomed the UEL, viewing it as a significant step towards a more business-friendly environment. The new system is expected to benefit small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in particular, which form the backbone of the UAE's economy.
